1. Recommend content at the right place and time

Uberflip Content Recommendations is a content recommendation engine that can offer personalized suggestions to visitors as they browse your resource center or campaign destinations. Using Content Recommendations can help you to surface content that's relevant to your visitors' interests, keeping them engaged for longer.

There are two ways to recommend content with Uberflip:

  1. Uberflip AI: Leverages buyer intent data and machine learning to automatically serve up personalized content recommendations to known and unknown visitors. 
  2. Marketing Streams: Lets you hand-select the recommendations being served by creating a dedicated stream with content aligned to the campaign goals and topic.

Tip: We suggest using Uberflip AI on your inbound resource center to ensure you’re recommending content based on visitor interest and online behavior. Opt for a Marketing Stream when you’re creating a campaign with a specific goal and are looking to recommend content to help get prospects to that next step in the journey.

2. Uberflip AI overview

Uberflip AI is the recommendation engine that powers our recommendation systems, Content Recommendations and Site Engager. These systems create personalized content recommendations for visitors to your resource center, website, and campaign destinations and they use AI to do this. 

Uberflip AI sources intent data provided by our partner Bombora, a leading provider of B2B intent data. Bombora uses machine learning to identify page topics based on keyword association, and tracks visitors across a large network of websites. Using this data, Bombora is able to build a profile of a given visitor's interests based on the topics of pages they visit. When you integrate your Content Hub with Bombora (which is a requirement for using Uberflip AI), Uberflip AI uses this intent data to understand the topics that your visitors are interested in and the topics that your content is about.

3. Where you can strategically recommend content 

Within your resource center or campaign destinations, recommendations are always shown beside items and appear in two places. They are primarily displayed via the recommendation panel, a sidebar that appears on the left of the screen whenever a visitor views an item:

If a device's screen is too small to display the panel (or if you disable the panel), you can also place recommendations in the More Content carousel:

As well recommendations can be shown in the Next Item flyout (if enabled):

In all of these cases, the recommendations will replace the actual next/previous items in the stream.

Also, note that recommendations are never shown at the stream level—only at the item level.

4. How to optimize your recommendation strategy

When analyzing content recommendations, you should be looking to answer two important questions: 

  1. How are content recommendations increasing engagement with our content? 
  2. Where and how can we improve the experience to drive better results? 

The Recommendation Dashboard is built to answer these questions in an intuitive and easy-to-understand manner. We were inspired by popular ad platforms that base their metrics around impressions, clicks, and conversions.

This funnel approach puts the focus on conversion rates among these key metrics, making it easy to get to the data that matters.

What scares many marketers about content recommendation engines is the idea of handing over the keys to your content library and giving control to the system to decide what content to display to your audience. With this comes the importance of understanding what content is being recommended and when. 

The Recommendation Dashboard lets you see exactly what content is being served up by the engine and what content assets are converting the best, which helps you better understand buyer intent. Having access to this data encourages optimization, allowing marketers to experiment with titles, descriptions, and tile images with the goal of making content more click-worthy.
